RE: Branson, MO in May
Hi, The Branson area is very nice. Living so close, I have to admit that we avoid it like the plague. If you want to go to a show, that is great just expect heavy traffic. Go early and stay relaxed. If you are looking to stay closer to the "action" lol there is a very nice privately owned campground in Branson West on Hwy 76 away from the strip called Acorn Acres. It is a very large campground and can fit RV's of all sizes. If you want to really see the area without the Branson Blight head to a COE campground on the lake. Old Highway 86 campground is our personal favorite, but there are several others, just look them up on the web. Old 86 is a beautiful spot on a cove right on the lake. If you want something really fun for adults and kids go for a ride on the "Spirit of America". It is a 40ft. catermaran that runs under sail across the lake on 2 hr. excursions. They have afternoon trips that go out and let you play in the water, and sunset cruises also. I love doing that, no matter how often. Whatever you like to do, there are tons of things to do in this area, it just depends on if you want to get away from people, or get right down elbow to elbow with them. Hope you have a great trip.
RE: Non-Alcoholic Campgrounds
I was reading through this thread and noticed some of the posts read that Army Corps campgrounds didn't allow alcohol at all. Here in Mo. that is not the case. You are not allowed to have alcohol in the public areas such as boat ramps, swim areas, public pavillions, playgrounds. When you are in your camp site that is your own business as long as you aren't making a nuisance of yourself. I would think that since A.C.O.E. parks are federal the same rules would apply across the U.S. Is this not the case...hmmm? Oh well, I would suggest as others have that your choice is going to be private campgrounds where the owners can control what the rules are on their property. Personally I have had a lot more problems with parents allowing their kids to run wild, or just rude adults who weren't drunk being a pain in the caboose. But if the thought of alcohol makes you nervous than you have to find the best option available for you. As long as you get out there and have fun, and not mess with others is all that matters.
Just got into another new to me travel trailer
Hello,
New poster here although I have lurked for a long time. I'm not sure if that makes me a stalker or not? Anyway, I have owned a plethora(I just like that word) of campers but I just got another one. Its a very nice 1985 Fleetwood Resort 17.5 ft. travel trailer. I am looking forward to once again modernizing another older camper. This is a cool one though. It is small but has dual axles, brakes, and all appliances. I have mainly been camping in pop ups but I have also had a couple of small travel trailers that I have fixed up. I am looking forward to posting on this forum and I was wondering who else might be from around Springfield, Mo. We are looking for people to go camping with this year. We intend on modifying the camper a little bit but not too much. Thanks for reading and I hope everyone is staying warm.
